Organisé par l’agence EVO 01, en collaboration avec AOSC et avec un parrain de luxe, Xavier Thévenard, 
l’ULTRA XT 01 se déroulera dans l’Ain les 22, 23 et 24 juin 2018.
Un Ultra Trail sillonnant les plus beaux sites de trail running de randonnée et de tourisme du département de l’Ain à savoir le Haut Bugey (avec le lac Genin et le lac de Nantua), le plateau d’Hauteville et le Plateau de Retord.
Le départ et l’arrivée seront jugés sur le site de Valexpo Oyonnax en plein cœur de la Plastic Vallée, site qui accueillera d’ailleurs un salon de l’outdoor ouvert au public où seront présents les acteurs économiques et touristiques du Trail et de la randonnée.
L’objectif de cet événement est avant tout de mettre en avant les sites touristiques du département de l’Ain à travers une importante opération médiatique d’envergure relayée par tous les principaux canaux à savoir Internet, la presse généraliste et spécialisée mais également la TV.
Objectif à 5 ans est de faire partie des courses référentes en Ultra avec en plus de la course traditionnelle en solo, un concept novateur : la course en équipe de 2, 3, 4 , 5 ou 6 avec une gestion libre des relais de 25 km chacun.
Participation 2018 : 150 solos + 100 équipes = 1 000 coureurs. A échéance 2020 : 3 000 coureurs.

Vous pourrez entrer, sortir, re-rentrer, accompagner, assister, supporter vos équipiers à votre guise…. Nous allons aussi limiter au maximum le matériel obligatoire pour vous permettre de courir léger et pour votre confort, autoriser le ravitaillement par vos proches partout en matériel, en boisson et en nourriture. On vous demande juste de ne pas monter dans les voitures !! Nous allons enfin autoriser le pacing ( accompagnement par un ami qui court avec vous) partout et tout le temps, on vous demande juste de ne pas vous faire pousser ni tirer ! “

=> Contribuer à la dynamique du département de l’Ain en matière d’événements d’ampleur ;
=> Promouvoir Xavier Thévenard et surtout l’identifier comme athlète « made in Ain » autour d’un événement racontant l’histoire de son enfance (passage devant la maison où il a grandi) et faire découvrir les terrains où il a débuté le trail running.
=> Permettre l’accès au plus grand nombre a une épreuve d’Ultra endurance en nature avec un concept nouveau : la notion d’équipe et de relais de 23 à 34 km que l’équipe gère à sa convenance.

Formé à la dure école du ski de fond, membre de l’équipe de France Junior et recordman actuel du GTJ Challenge (184 km en 10h59′), Xavier présente une précocité incroyable.
Vainqueur de la CCC à 22 ans, sans assistance, ni préparation spécifique, il s’est rapidement imposé comme un coureur qui compte dans le paysage du Trail Running mondial !
Amoureux de la montagne où il puise son énergie sans modération.
Il a touché le graal en 2013, en s’imposant sur l’UTMB, la plus grande course du monde, dans un temps canon de 20h34′. Il a confirmé son statut en 2014 en remportant la TDS.
Mais l’histoire n’en est qu’à ces débuts puisqu’il a remporté en 2015 un deuxième UTMB et en 2016 l’OCC ! Xavier est à ce jour le seul athlète ayant réalisé la fabuleuse série OCC, CCC, TDS, UTMB autour du Mont –Blanc et chaque fois à sa première tentative, entrant à moins de 30 ans, définitivement, dans l’histoire de son sport.
