Comme expliqué dans l’article de présentation (à lire ICI), l’Ultra Run Rarámuri opposait Européens et Rarámuri (aussi appelés Tarahumara), dans une course de 190 kilomètres comprenant 10 000 m de dénivelé positif.
Pour la première fois, en 4 éditions, la course a été remportée par un Européen, avec la victoire de Julien Chorier, déjà double vainqueur du Grand Raid de la Réunion (2009 et 2011), mais aussi premier de la Hardrock Hundred Endurance Run en 2011, de l’Ultra Trail du Mont Fuji en 2012 et plus récemment de la Verbier X-Alpine (2019).
Le coureur de la Team Hoka One One s’est imposé en 25h01’15, soit la meilleure performance établie sur cette course. L’ancien record appartenait à Juan Contreras, coureur Raramuri, qui avait mis 25h24’56 afin d’effectuer la boucle.
Si Julien Chorier a terminé avec plus d’une heure et demie d’avance sur les autres concurrents, les Tarahumara n’ont pas, pour autant, démérité, puisqu’ils ont largement dominé les Européens. Pedro Parra (Rarámuri) a terminé 2e en 26h37’06, Reyes Satevo Sarabeachi (Rarámuri) 3e en 26h37’07, Juan Contreras (Rarámuri) 4e en 30h10’, Enrique Moreno Carillo (Rarámuri) 5e en 30h43’56 et Fabian Rascon Lechuga (Rarámuri) 6e en 34h33’05. Le second Européen, Jérôme Chauvin, a terminé 7e en 42h21’53.
Vanessa Morales a été la première féminine à parcourir les 190 kilomètres (9e au scratch), après 46h44’32 secondes de course. Olivia Durocher et Isabelle Bernier ont, quant à elle, terminé ensemble en 53h57’43.
Nombreux sont ceux qui n’ont pas réussi à terminer la course, aussi bien chez les Européens (Théo Schmitt, Pavel Paloncý, Anne Genest, Joan Roch, Jean-Philippe Lefief, Bernard Monin, Thierry Corbarieu) que chez les Rarámuri, ce qui montre toute la difficulté du parcours et l’exigence de cette course.
