Les organisateurs du Corsica Raid Aventure ont annoncé la naissance d’un nouvelle course en 4 étapes pour juin 2020, sur l’un des plus beaux et plus techniques chemins de Grande Randonnée du Monde, le GR 20, qui traverse la Corse.
Le concept : 4 étapes en solo, relais ou équipes
C’est un projet de très haute envergure. Il exige une très grande expérience dans l’organisation de course aventure. Il requiert une connaissance profonde tant de nos milieux montagnards que de leurs microrégions et de ses acteurs. Il nécessite une expertise et une excellente de haut niveau. L’expérience de nombreux d’entre nous, qui depuis 25 ans permet au Corsica Raid Aventure d’exister est un véritable gage de nos capacités. Nous avons patiemment acquis de fortes expertises dans tous les domaines nécessaires : parcours, technique, sécurité, secours, coordination, logistique, animation, communication…
En pratique
L’ULTRA TRAIL GR20 sera formaté en une course de 4 étapes. Ce choix fondamental est certes très contraignant en terme organisationnel, mais ce n’est qu’à travers une course à étapes que l’ULTRA TRAIL GR20 réussira à mobiliser et à irriguer chaque territoire emprunté et devenir un véritable miroir de la montagne corse.
De plus, ce format permet de convaincre le plus grand nombre de coureurs de venir se frotter au mythique GR20. De nombreuses possibilités vont ainsi s’ouvrir aux futurs participants :

« Le GR20, Fra Li Monti » est une diagonale tracée à travers la montagne Corse, qui permet de rejoindre Calenzana, en Balagne, à Conca, petit village postée au-dessus de Porto-Vecchio, au sud-est de l’île. Un sentier mythique, redouté, mais considérer comme le plus beau du monde !
Depuis le début des années 90 et les 5 victoires de Patrice Costa sur la course l’Alta Strada tenue à bout de bras par les Filippi, le GR20 restait vierge de toute compétition. Rendons leur hommage ici et sachons nous inspirer de leur enthousiasme, de leur intrépidité et de leur abnégation, car il va nous en falloir pour rendre à notre sentier mythique la course qu’il mérite ! Car il en fallu du temps, de l’expérience, de l’opiniâtreté, de la patience, pour que les choses paraissent possibles. Nous œuvrons depuis près de 3 ans à la conceptualisation et à la définition du projet ULTRA TRAIL GR20.
Notre objectif est de créer la plus belle course du monde sur le plus beau sentier du monde, le mythique GR20 !
Depuis 10 ans le GR 20 s’est retrouvé médiatisé par les records de différents trailers qui ont défié la dureté des sentiers techniques de l’île de beauté.
Le 16 juin 2009 : Kilian Jornet bat record du GR 20 en corse en 32h54min pour environ 180 km et 14 500 m de dénivelé positif entre Calenzana et Conca.
Ce record a été battu le 7 juillet 2014 par le Corse Guillaume Peretti en 32h.
Le 4 juin 2016, François D’Haene établit un nouveau temps référence de 31h06min.
Emilie Lecomte détient depuis 2012 le record féminin en 41h22min.
